I'll give you my experience. Actually, the gears don't help spool the turbos faster (in fact, if you were to look at a dyno, they might actually spool a little slower, RPM wise. This is due to the decreased load on the engine.). But what the gears do do (or doo-doo), is increase the torque put to the ground and the engine spends (significantly) less TIME going into it's power band and making boost. This gives the feel of a small turbo car in regards to spool up time, and the car is much quicker in it's responsiveness. Contrary to what alot of people theorized (incorrectly), the bigger the turbo (the more time spent out of the power band with the stock gearing) the more benefit the gears, due to this decreased time (because of the increased torque) spent getting the car into it's powerband. I drove Zo's car after we installed the gears (He has a set up similar to your's) and the feel was amazing. It also allowed him to drop his 60' in the 1/4 mile by a tenth of a second and pick up additional MPH. You should drive someone's car with the 4.10s or the NA diff., I think you'd be surprised. This sounds like a shameless plug, but it is. Take care, Mark P.S. Hopefully Seb or Zo will give you their first hand feeback. I think they are the first guys going to the lower gearing with big turbos and manuals.
